In our next stitch club, Jacqui will show us different ways of creating stumpwork (3D embroidery) to create a piece of your choice. The photos below show just one example of what can be done.
Requirements List
- Background fabric, reasonably heavy. If choosing silk, back it with calico. Make it around 12" x 12".
- Cotton fabric to create petals and leaves. To be safe make it 2 pieces 6" x 6"
- An 8" hoop (preferably in a sit on frame, but not important if you don't have one)
- A 4" hoop to create the 3D elements
- 2 shades of green stranded cotton for the stems and leaves
- 4 colours for the pansy, one of which should be black
- 3" square of felt for padding
- Florists or cake wire (size 30 if you can get it)
- 1 long pin
- String or thin cord
- A few seed beads to compliment your flower
- Normal sewing kit, scissors
We are going to practice a number of different techniques to create a flower.
If anyone is interested, there is one other technique I can show you, but you will need white cotton fabric for that and a small amount of kapok.
Jacqui will have the required wire if you need it.

As usual, the stitch club will be held at the Thomas Garrett rooms in Heighington. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided, but please bring your own lunch. 10:00 - 15:00.
