Stitched Drawings with Sheila Walker - stitch club Saturday 19th May 2018

Bailgate stitch club and YE will both be on Skellingthorpe Rd as usual. Any further details from Sheila
she.walker@hotmail.co.uk

A very quick fire, spontaneous and fun workshop, this requires no particular drawing or painting skills, just a “willing to have a go” attitude. In response to your own inspiration, the morning will be spent creating a collage background which will be drawn and painted on to, then the afternoon will be spent relaxing with needle and thread.

Requirements
  • A selection of papers eg. brown, handmade, cartridge, tissue, old book page, music, patterns, graph paper
  • A selection of neutrals eg. calico, cotton organdie. Scraps of something with a previous life -table linen, handkerchief, scarf. Or scraps left from a previous project.
  •  Inspiration - A selection of your own photos, sketches, and objects which relate to your chosen subject.
  • Small pot white emulsion or gesso. (Other light colours will do)
  • Drawing equipment - a range of pencils and coloured pencils, eraser, ruler, sharpener
  •  PVA glue
  •  Scissors
  • Acrylic paint - a few colours relating to your images. Water pot, small palette, an old credit card or similar
  • Small set of water colours, bottle of ink and brushes
  • Small selection of threads relating to colours from your design source. And basic sewing kit.
  • Plastic to cover table and an apron may be useful.
Please don’t worry about bringing everything as Sheila will bring some supplies.

Michelle Maloney, stitch club tutor where we created giftbags using petals and leaves - Saturday April 21st 2018

What a wonderful use for bondaweb and how amazing the petals survive the iron. We all enjoyed our day with Michelle and some of us had completed bags and others were well on the way.

Folding thread holder - Group practical Friday 30th March 2018

The idea was proposed by Sheila Walker and kits were prepared by Judith Snaith; Judith also provided us all with instruction sheets.

We had a lovely relaxed evening, with hot drinks, a small project to complete and take home and branch business and regional day to discuss. Judith was on hand to help with our thread holders as they developed.

See the thread holder in action on the March blog page.
