Flower Gift bags, a stitch club with Michelle Maloney April 21st 2018


Real flowers,
At this time of the year Primroses, primulas, Pansies or Violas.
We will just use the petals. Also any small leaves and grasses.

Plain cotton fabric or calico,
White, cream or coloured to complement your chosen flowers.
Minimum size 56cms x26cms

Sheer fabrics, organza, chiffon or net

Bondaweb 2x pieces the same size as your fabric

Baking parchment

Usual sewing kit
Threads for hand and machine sewing
Beads for decoration
Cord or Ribbon for bag handles

Sewing machine, if desired

30th March 2018 Make a folding thread catcher with Sheila Walker

Free kits will be provided so the only thing people need to bring is a basic sewing kit. Of course if someone has a burning desire to use a particular fabric, then feel free to bring it along.

Weaving on a picture frame run by Kathy Paton: Stitch Club 17th March 2018

We all had fun choosing our type of weft - thickness, texture and colour. Most of us just wove, but as Kathy had given us a sheet with various ways of weaving, one person had a go (see above middle). The day was a huge success, despite the wind and snow.

Anne Petch

Sadly Anne Petch died in February, after receiving treatment for cancer for a long while. For many years she was the Bailgate Branch treasurer as well as being a fine embroiderer.

Her funeral will take place at Lincoln Crematorium, Washingborough Rd, Lincoln LN4 1EF on 26th March at 3.50pm, then over to the Gainsborough Blues Club afterwards, North Steet, Gainsborough DN21 2HU.
