Our next stitch club will be on Saturday 19th July, when Kathy will be taking us through making a sunglasses case using Sashiko embroidery techniques. You don't have to make the case, if you prefer you can make a panel for a bag or cushion, or just a sampler.
Requirements
- Fabric: 2 layers 20cm x 20cm
- Outer layer: Middle/heavyweight cotton. (Traditionally, Sashiko embroidery is on plain indigo fabric, so Indigo/dark navy is ideal, but it's your choice)
- Fusible interfacing if the fabric is lightweight.
- Inner layer: Fleece, brushed cotton or even soft cotton to protect lenses. The inner doesn't need to be plain.
- Basic sewing kit with pins or clips
- Paper cutting scissors
- Matching thread to sew case
- Fabric marker to use with stencil
- Kathy will bring some white gel pens which work well but are indelible
- White embroidery thread for Sashiko. Some of you may have Sashiko thread in your stash, but Kathy has used regular embroidery floss. All 6 threads in the skein will be used. Cheap Trimits threat works well as it's coarser. Kathy will have some available.
