Scrappy Birds Tote Bag & Bird & Tag - January Stitch Club

 A good day was had by all as Kathy took us through creating a scrappy birds tote bag and bird tag, using tiny scraps of material that many of us may have thought of throwing out because we thought they couldn't be used for anything!

Eight of us plus Kathy got to grips with creating out bags and/or tags and here are some of the results below, don't they look great!!

Our next stitch club will be on Saturday 21st February when Jill will be taking us through using  embroidered/embellished work to create a card.  Kits will be provided for a small cost.  Further details to follow.

January Stitch Club - Scrappy Birds Tote Bag and Bird Tag.

Our next stitch club will be on Saturday 17th January 2026 at the Thomas Garrett Building, Heighington, from 10:00 - 15:00, where Kathy will be taking us through creating a scrappy birds tote bag and bird tag.

Requirements List

• Basic sewing kit
• Black sewing thread
• Small fabric scraps (I have plenty)
• Backing fabric - lightweight cotton to be covered by scraps. I have an old sheet that can be used.
• Small piece of felt if making a bird tag.
• Embroidery threads optional
• Paper scissors for cutting out the templates
• Double sided bondaweb. 

Kathy will supply a tote bag for £1 and supply cord and beads for the bird tag for free.

It’s up to the individual how many birds and leaves you choose. This means you will have a finished item at the end of the day. Of course you may choose to create a cushion panel or something else.

You will also need to bring a packed lunch.  Tea/coffee/biscuits will be provided.  Cost: £5.00 members, £7.50 non-members.
