June Stitch Club - Saturday 25th

 We have had to change the date of the June stitch club to the 25th June, still at the Thomas Garrett Building in Heighington.

Due to the unavailability of our tutor for the planned day of activities (which will be run next season), it will be run by Judith and Jacqui.  There will be a mixture of things to do:

JUDITH

Pencil Storage Container Requirements List

  • Paper needs to be firm (100gsm +)  You can use 6" squre paper or larger.
  • Whatever your chosen size, ou will need 6 pieces, plus another 2 for the base.
  • 1 piece of card for the base (Cereal box will do)
  • PVA glue or a glue gun
  • Paper clips to hold the paper whilst the glue sets
  • Ruler
  • Scissors for cutting paper.
Iris Folded Card
  • Wrapping paper - to cut into strips, in four colours that compliment each other
  • Judith has gold, silver and bronze colours
  • Scissors or guillotine
  • Narrow double sided tape
  • Piece of card of mat to fasten the design down
  • Card mounts (these will be available on the dayu)
JACQUI

Braiding

Will we be trying a variety of different braids using Kumihimo, and beaded jewellery with a form of macrame.  Requirements list:
  • Threads of differents kinds and thicknesses, ribbon, goldfingering, stranded cotton, Perle cotton, novelty threads etc.
  • Large beads as centre pieces for jewellery
  • Jacqui will have some jewellery findings with her and also some very strong glue

Embroidered Knot Gardens

 Today, Jacqui took us through creating our own embroidered knot gardens, where we were encouraged to use a wide variety of threads to build up a textured 3-D imitation of a stately home's ornamental garden.

Here are some of the results.  I think a good day was had by all!  And as usual, Jacqui left the group with some homework!!!
