Julie creates Japanese patches with her sewing machine Feb 2021

 

Julie wrote 'Preferred the hand stitched one. Was able to get a better finish.  However I didn't like this one at first so rushed it.'

But I think it is great and I love the the orange and brown together.

Brusho with fabric medium - Julie tested it and Kate had a go too

The fabric medium means that Brusho paints can be easily used in textile art. We have used them here as backgrounds.

If you have a go remember rubber glover - we both had strange coloured fingers for a couple of days.

from paint to cut felt - Ivon Hitchens painting in Usher Gallery Jan 2021

 Here is the painting in the Usher Gallery; it is represented as a landscape image. I had seen this work in the gallery through the years and never questioned it.


While I was studying it carefully - first with two watercolour paintings and then with a cut felt textile piece - I realised that it was portrait in shape and represented flowers and foliage in vases on a table.


The flower were cultivated poppies as indicated by the attached foliage.
