Julie Wallhead with Marbling on Fabric 18th September 2021 - sign up now

It could get messy so old clothes, aprons, something to cover the table with and an old towel that would be great. I will bring some examples of what I have done.  Above all it will be fun.

This is for you a if you want a list.  I will bring everything needed so don’t panic.

Ist Method

Shaving foam

something like a baking tray, cat litter tray, or just a piece of tin foil.

Acrylic paint but needs to be thinned down a little.  I will bring some.  A palette knife or Longish ruler.

A piece of felt, or some fabric.  I am led to believe that acrylic paint will stick to anything.

I cocktail stick or kebab stick.

2nd Method

If you have a look at the video tutorials on this page it will give you an idea of the things you can do.

Marbling Kits - Marbling 4 Fun - Marbling, Art Supplies, Kits

I have the kits for these and will bring them.

If you have 100% cotton then it needs to be mordanted.  It might work on silk but again would need to be mordanted, I will bring some mordanted fabric.

I don’t think you can use anything other than natural fibres.

Paper, not cartridge paper nor coated paper.  Its a bit experimental on this one, depends on the paper.

Wood or pebbles can also be used.

Tatting Stitch Club - July 10th 2021

 Hi All

I'm running a tatting stitch club on 10th July 2021 at Heighington.  I will have tatting shuttles with me if you haven't got one and you can purchase for £1.50 if you want.  Requirements list:

  • I recommend a thread that will 'slip' relatively easily, so crochet cotton, or pearl.  You can use wool, but it's not as forgiving.
  • A tapestry needle in case of knots!  It happens to the best of us!
  • Scissors
  • If we get time and you want to try it, beads that will fit on the thread you are tatting with
  • Packed lunch
We'll start by learning the basic stitch and create a motif or two, using double stitch, picots etc.

I look forward to seeing you there!!
